Maximize Your Maxi Dress!

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Continuing Alia's post in this Magazine about Modestly On-Trend, which she said that recently some more modest trends come into fashion. As we can see from her photos, many stores in Japan are now showing maxi dresses on their outlets.

So, if the trend is maxi dress, why don't we maximize our maxi dress! :)

Maxi dresses can be worn as casual wear or elegant wear depends on the fabrics, prints, style, and how we accessorize them.

Now for SistersWhoBlog Magazine, I would love to share my 'wishlook'. Must hunt down to find something similar to have this look! :)

To achieve a variety of look, first of all you need a classic jersey maxi dress in a plain neutral shades that would be act as the basic layer on your look.

I found these two maxi dresses that fit to what that I've been looking for.

Charcoal jersey maxi dress with long sleeves by Alexander Wang.

It can be bought at net-a-porter.com with price $105. This must be pricey for almost all of us. But, if you need or want a designer's style to fill out your wardrobe, this maxi dress can be an option.

And then I found something similar with the above maxi dress at Maysaa.com:

Jersey polo neck maxi dress in navy blue (the price is £35.00), and a light grey maxi dress from Maysaa. Both with long sleeves.

Charcoal, navy blue, or camel is a basic shade I love. Some fashion expert even said that they are a NEW black :)

Pick maxi dress that have a nice cut, drape beautifully on your body, and I personally will choose the A-Line shape.

Then, if you already have that kind of maxi dress, you can play with almost all kind of pieces of clothes. Wear it with signature tops, vest, cardigans, --sleveeless, 3/4 sleeves, or long slevees--jackets, short dress, 3/4 skirts, and even mini skirts.

The recommendation from Net-A-Porter Editor is:

Wear it with

Rosantica Acquachiara necklace

Layer this kind of maxi dress under a shearling jacket, then toughen the look with a pair of leather ankle boots, add with statement jewelry (necklace and ring) and a studded leather bag.

I think this will create a formal look. If you wish to have a more casual style for daily wear, you can always wear maxi dress with sandals or flats.

The style advice from Mayssa Editor is: teamed up this kind of maxi dress with a cropped cardigan, a single gold wrist cuff that will give you an understated sophistication, and of course, the Maysaa's chiffon scarf snood.

If you think these maxi dress and its complements are so expensive, we can always find something similar to that wardrobe items, or even create one, that will suit to our budget. ;)

Spice up the look with a statement bracelet or necklace, a stunning hijab and its accessories, then teamed up with gorgeous shoes... Use your imagination, play with your wardrobes... the styles are endless! This is what I love from hijab. There are so much creativities in it, by still maintaining the modesty.

My favorite runway inspiration for this style is CHANEL Pre-Fall 2009. Full of hijab-friendly look, this collection will always be my favorite ever. There are lots of inspiration here:

The headdresses can act as headscarves... ;) To be a hijab-ready, simply replace the headdresses with a headscarf, and you are ready to go!

Hijab styling tips: Find a simple plain-color long-sleeved maxi dress that can act as a layer under all signature suits you love to wear.

Or, if you do not want to deal with layers' stuffs, this kind of simple white abaya framed with animal prints on the bottom would be a good option. I found this from Zaina: Abaya and Hijab's album on facebook:

Looking all of this collection make me want to wear a maxi dress for the upcoming Eid... ;)

Happy maximize your maxi dress!
